Disaster Response Team

How will St. Anthony Parish assist the community in the event of a local disaster?
After reviewing the strengths of the St. Anthony Parish Community the St. Anthony Disaster Response Team identified the following 3 areas:

1. Serve as a staging headquarters for various organizations that provide immediate need services or utility restoration services. In addition to providing the facilities, St. Anthony volunteers would assist these organizations with setting up their operations and provide food for their staff and volunteers.

2. Assist parishioners and the immediate neighbors surrounding St. Anthony whose homes were impacted by a disaster by doing the following:

  • complete an assessment of the damage, take pictures and assess the immediate, short-term and long-term needs;
  • provide debris removal, if needed;
  • provide immediate quick fixes, if needed;
  • provide immediate food ; if needed; and
  • provide direction to case managers and/or the organizations that can provide the longer term needs of the families.
  • The priority for this assistance would be:
    elderly parishioners;
  • disabled parishioners;
  • single parent parishioners;
  • other parishioner families; and
  • St. Anthony neighbors in the same order as noted above.

3. Provide parish families with basic Disaster Planning training and information.
