Scouting programs that meet at St. Anthony operate though four separate units...Cub Scout Pack 4048, Scouts BSA Boy Troop 4010, Scouts BSA Girl Troop 4010, and Venture Crew 4010. The units all meet separately but often join together for various adventures, campouts, and service projects. The Cub Pack is for boys and girls in elementary school (kindergarten through 5th grade) while the Boy and Girl Troops are for middle and high school youth (above 5th grade through age 17). The Venture Crew is for youth from 14 years through 20 years old and they mainly focus on more high adventure type of activities...most of the Venture Crew youth are in the Boy and Girl Troop as well. The Scouting program is aimed at developing character, leadership, citizenship, and personal fitness in our youth. We do that through various opportunities like hikes, where Scouts develop physical fitness; flag retirements, where Scouts respect our nation and the people who have served it; and campouts, where Scouts practice skills like cooking, setting up a camp, and surviving in the outdoors. An essential part of our program is youth leadership via the patrol method so that Scouts learn both how to lead and how to respect the leadership of others. The Scouts do many volunteer service activities like parking cars at Mount St. Francis for festivals, working and cleaning up after fish frys at St. Anthony's, collecting food for the parish's St. Vincent dePaul Society to help local people who need assistance, and much more. Our older youth have the opportunity to plan and travel on high adventure Big Trips. Some destinations over the years have included Iceland, Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Alaska, Boundary Waters in Minnesota, West Virginia, and Yellowstone National Park. On My Honor is a 501(c)(3) that works with unit leadership to support the Scouting program here. Although our Scouting units are officially chartered by the Town of Clarksville, we have a long relationship with St. Anthony. We are grateful to the parish to be a special part of the ministry here!
