Young Adult Ministry

Our Mission Statement

St Anthony Young Adult Ministry is an opportunity to empower young adults who

desire to grow as disciples in Christ who are contributing their natural and spiritual gifts

for building the Kingdom of God. Our dynamic ministry encourages prayer, study, and

lively engagement with others and with the Church.

We welcome you…to join in all the events/activities!

Our Team!

Hi! I’m Stacy Gillenwater and I’m excited to lead the Young Adult Ministry Committee that was formed as a result of the St Anthony Parish Survey. We plan to be creative as we strive to gain more involvement with the young adults in our parish. My personal goal is to lead by example and help others learn that Jesus Christ should be the true love of their life!
Our young adults have much to offer, but they are at a time of their life where they could use some focus and guidance with respect to their spiritual life, and I’m excited to be a small part of that effort!

As the retired St Anthony Youth Minister, something that continues to resonate with me is the importance of engaging young adults in an effort to continue and/or renew their faith commitment.

We are all called to build up the kingdom. I challenge all of our
St Anthony parishioners to encourage young adults, ages 18 – 40,
to “return home”, by attending Mass with you. Or, if you see a young adult in the community or at Mass, then take a moment to encourage them. This might result in you getting out of your comfort zone, but that’s okay because we are all called to spread the love of Jesus! It takes a village, and YOU are an important part of that village. “Always be the best person you can be!”

Hello, I'm Pat Gillenwater, and I will be working alongside my wife, Stacy, to help lead the St Anthony Young Adult Ministry Committee. This is very familiar territory for me because I enjoyed spending time working with our parish youth during the 15 years that Stacy was the St Anthony Youth Minister. I had the opportunity to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) several times over the years as a chaperone when Stacy took the St Anthony youth. We returned to Indianapolis for NCYC a few weeks ago as volunteers for the Indianapolis Archdiocese and seeing so many youth excited about the Lord and their Catholic faith was incredibly inspiring. Some of the new members of the St Anthony Young Adult Ministry Committee were attendees at NCYC over a decade ago when we attended together, so it's wonderful to reconnect with them during a different stage of their life. We are all called to spread the good news of the Lord, so one of our goals is to work with our Young Adults to engage their peers to possibly 'return home' to the parish. I often turn to the Holy Spirit to guide me and will certainly be doing so as I help lead this wonderful new ministry. A fun fact about me is that a close friend and I have each caught a fish for 332 consecutive months, which is 36 years...and counting!

Hi! My name is Kaitlyn Hellinger and I am excited to be on the Young Adult Ministry Committee. I have been a member of St. Anthony Parish my whole life. I was very involved in our parish’s youth group when I was in high school. However, since returning home from college, I have not been as active in our parish. I’m excited to become more involved again! I look forward to helping create new opportunities for young adults to participate and feel welcomed at our church.

For those who do not know me, I love to spend time with my family and friends, bake, read, and do crafts. I also teach second grade at St. Anthony School. I love being able to help my students learn and grow in their faith.

I have always admired St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. She helped start the first free Catholic school in America. Though she faced many struggles and loss, she remained devoted to God. I look to her as an example of strong faith and helping others.

Hello! My name is Josh Frost and I’ve been a member of St. Anthony parish nearly my whole life, graduating in the class of 2011. As part of the Young Adult Ministry Team, I’m looking forward to helping facilitate opportunities to bring in new and returning members into our parish.
Someone I look to in times of need is St. Jude. My grandmother gave me a prayer card that calls on St. Jude during times of hopelessness, so I try to pray it when I am not feeling my best.
A fun fact about me is that I’ve assisted with many youth ministry activities at St. Anthony over the years, including Summer Daze, Vacation Bible School, as well as coaching our CYO basketball and volleyball teams. I’m excited to be a part of this ministry to help bring our young adults closer to God and our wonderful St. Anthony community!

Hello I’m Zach Hensel and I am the husband of Jaclyn Hensel who is also apart of the Young Adult Ministry.
My wife and I moved to the area this past fall. Our oldest son, Karson, attends the 3 year old preschool program here at St. Anthony. We’re excited to call St Anthony our new home. Our youngest, who is Easton, will be 2 next February.
I teach advance physical education and the current head football coach at Clarksville High School. My wife and I enjoy giving back to the local community in many different ways.

Hello, my name is Zachary Hellinger, or Zach, for short. I was recently inspired to join the Young Adult Ministry Team once I heard Friar John mention it. I am an usher at the 5pm Saturday Mass and have noticed much lower number of attendees than before, and remember the days that if you got to Mass late, you would have to park at the school. Also, it would be good to see more young adults at Mass.
I hope to help inspire the team's vision and be able to enliven the spirit in my peers for them to want to return to the Mass and the faith. I plan to use my experience in Greek Life with event planning and promotion to help get the word out and get young adults to our events. I hope it will relight the fire of the spirit in them, and they will want to get back involved for the right reasons.
I am more of a family man, and family has always been an inspiration of mine. I’ve recently looked to my late Grandma Hellinger’s example of her faith. I think she has somewhat relit the fire in me from above, and I hope to share that with others, including old friends in our ministry.

Hi, I'm Michael Hamm and I've been a member of St Anthony parish since I was baptized as an infant. One of the things I would like for the St Anthony Young Adult Ministry to accomplish is to bring more young adults my age back to the church. The Saints that inspire me and provide guidance are St Michael and St Anthony. A fun fact about myself is that I'm very much into my Italian heritage and I also enjoy all things about mafia history.

Hello All!

My name is Kaitlyn Giles, and I went to St. Anthony for preschool all the way through 8th grade! My Grandma Judy has been a member of the parish for many years!

Some things I would like to accomplish as being a member of this team is to bring young adults and other peers who I grew up with come back around and feel part of a special community again, like the way I felt growing up. I have met some amazing people through the St. Anthony community!

I look to Saint Rita, who is the patron saint of women, specifically helping them never give up despite difficulties and challenges.

A fun little fact about me is I just recently got married about a month ago to my best friend, Austin, and we have two fur babies named Lili and Maverick who I love with all my heart!

Hello! I’m Jaclyn Hensel and I am looking forward to growing the Young Adult Ministry! My husband, Zach, and our two young boys just moved to the area this past fall. My oldest son, Karson, is a part of the St Anthony 3 year old preschool program.
I am really excited to be a part of this team because it took me back 7 years ago when I moved away from my hometown to the suburbs of Indianapolis; I needed a place to call “home” while being single and wanting to make new friends. I found this amazing young adult group that changed my life and I got two best friends/bridesmaids out of it! My goal here is to create a community of people who like to do those “fun” things & yet living out their faith!
As I am new to the area, you may not know me, but I enjoy being a head football coach’s wife and a mom to two young boys. I get to work remotely at my home as a site civil engineer while raising wild saints!
Always remember: “Design the life you want to create.”

Hello, my name is Trey Miller, and I have been a member of St Anthony since I was in second grade.I attended school at St Anthony from the time iI arrived through 8th grade and I have remained a parishioner ever since. I would like to get more people my age involved by participating in different activities and events that they would enjoy. A fun fact about me is that I just recently graduated from IUS!

My name is Kyle Williams. I’ve been a member of St. Anthony Parish for
about 13 years. I currently serve on the Parish Council. I grew up in Jeffersonville at Sacred Heart Parish and then spent time at St. Augustine. In 2016, I moved to Henryville where I currently live. I’ve been a lawyer for 29 years and Judge of the Clark Superior Court No. 6 for 2 ½. Every day I ask St. Thomas More, the patron saint of lawyers, to pray to the Lord that I may make wise and just decisions.
A fun fact about me is that I play the viola in two local orchestras.
